Gabriel Agbonlahor has tipped Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich to be rested against West Brom tonight after his lackluster display against Burnley.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker claimed the Leeds players need a rest after they looked “tired” against the Clarets.
Klich has started every Premier League game for the Whites this season but was forced to play in a deeper midfield role on Sunday with Kalvin Phillips dropping into defence.
His manager Marcelo Bielsa admitted after the fixture the Poland international had a “difficult game” due to the lack of possession he was able to command.
The 30-year-old is just one yellow card away from a suspension after picking up four cautions already this term.
And Agbonlahor has claimed he could be one of multiple Leeds players rested for the visit to the Hawthorns tonight.
He told Football Insider: “Leeds players need a rest.
“A lot of them looked tired in the last game and they need to rotate them a bit more.
“The sports science teams can look at what players have covered what distance and can advise the managers to give them a rest.
“I think Klich will get a rest and maybe others in the team as well.
“But Bielsa might think to himself, like other managers, it’s one more game before the FA Cup and he can rest them all for the FA Cup game.”
It would be a shock if Klich, who has found the net twice and provided four assists in 15 league games this season, failed to start as there has been only one league match he has not started in Bielsa’s entire two-and-a-half year reign.
