Pundit expects Pep Guardiola to quit Man City within months after deal agreed
Pep Guardiola could resign from his post at Man City if he wins the Champions League this season.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Spaniard’s future.
The Premier League champions confirmed on 23 November that Guardiola has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2025.
Guardiola has won every domestic trophy on offer in England but is yet to taste European success at the Etihad Stadium – losing 1-0 to Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League final.
McManus claims the City boss will leave the club at the end of this season if he finally captures the Champions League for the Blues.
“He has signed that new deal but it will be interesting to see how that would change if they win the Champions League,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“Would that change his mind? That’s the only thing missing from his CV at the moment, he is desperate to win that Champions League with Man City.
“They have thrown enough money at it now and obviously they got to the final for the first time a few years ago.
“I think they are favourites to win the Premier League, as good as Arsenal have been. So that leaves the Champions League for this season.

“I wonder if his hunger will go if they do win it. Will Pep go for another two or three years at City after winning everything? I’m not so sure.
“The contract gives him a bit of stability but I think we will see him go elsewhere for a new challenge if that Champions League is won.”
