Pundit hails Joelinton and makes '£40m' Newcastle star prediction after 'huge' reveal

Joelinton could become the £40million player Newcastle United “thought they signed” under Eddie Howe.

That is the view of former England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Joelinton’s display against Brentford.

The 25-year-old forward starred on Saturday as Newcastle drew 3-3 with Thomas Frank’s side.

Last Friday, as quoted by the Guardian, Howe said the Brazilian was a “huge” part of his plans at St. James’ Park.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Joelinton’s performance, Robinson said:

“Joelinton has been given a bit of confidence because Howe backed him publicly.

“Manager’s see different things on the training ground and he obviously likes what he saw from Joelinton. Howe believes there is something there he can work with and the early signs are very promising.

“Different players respond to different manager and managerial techniques. Eddie Howe might be the perfect fit for Joelinton.

“There has been a lot of talk about Howe’s man-management skills over the years. He was given a lot of credit for that.

“Perhaps under Howe, Joelinton can become the £40million player Newcastle thought they signed.”

Newcastle signed Joelinton from Hoffenheim in a £40million deal in July 2019.

However, he has failed to hit the heights on Tyneside and has scored just 11 goals in 92 appearances.
