Pundit: I ‘can see McGinn at Man United now’ as deal tipped to be done after Rangnick update

John McGinn would take his game to the next level if he joined Man United in January.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s possible “no risk” transfer.

According to the Sun (5 December), McGinn is on the wishlist at Man United as new boss Ralf Rangnick looks to stamp his authority at Old Trafford.

The report claims the midfielder’s ability to play in a high-pressure system has been noted by the German.

Kenny claims McGinn could thrive at Man United as he will be surrounded by better players.

“I don’t see why McGinn wouldn’t do well at Man United,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s a brilliant player and he has done so well for Aston Villa. He’s shown his quality.

“It would be interesting to see if this does happen. I can see him at United now. No disrespect to Villa but I would like to see McGinn play with better players.

“That would bring more out of him. Some fans might complain that it’s not a glamourous signing or something like that.

“If you look at some of the big players Man United have signed, it doesn’t always work out.

“McGinn is proven in the Premier League and on the international stage, there is no risk there.”

McGinn has three and a half years remaining on his contract at Villa Park after penning new terms in December of 2020.
