Pundit issues 'absolutely certain' Darwin Nunez claim as seven-year Liverpool plan revealed
Darwin Nunez will be an “excellent” signing for Liverpool after details of their seven-year pursuit were revealed.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Reds’ new star signing.
On 15 June, Liverpool announced the signing of Nunez, 22, from Benfica in a deal which could cost a club-record £85million.
On 14 June, The Athletic claimed Liverpool have been tracking Nunez for seven years, since he was a 15-year-old playing for Penarol’s Under 19 side.
After finding out about Liverpool’s extensive scouting, Kenny is sure Nunez will be a successful signing at Anfield.
“They seem to get these transfers right,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They have been watching this kid for seven years, it shows they have a good scouting system and I’m sure he is going to be an excellent signing.
“Seven years is a long time, since he was a 15-year-old. That means they are absolutley certain he will be a good signing.
“For the money they have spent, he has to do well.
“I’m excited to see him play in the Premier League. What I have seen of him, he looks a real player.
Nunez joined Benfica from Almeria in the summer of 2020 amid interest from Brighton.
He is likely to serve as a replacement for Sadio Mane, who is expected to leave the club this summer following six years with the Anfield club.
