Pundit issues bold Man United transfer prediction amid 'laughing' Solskjaer claim

Frank McAvennie has questioned why anyone would sign for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the manager is stopping the club from signing top talent.

Man United stole a draw against Atalanta on Tuesday night through a last-gasp Ronaldo strike.

This result kept the Red Devils alive in the Champions League though Solskjaer remains under pressure from some sections of the club’s fanbase.

Calls for the manager’s head reached a fever pitch after Man United’s 5-0 loss to Liverpool in October.

McAvennie insists Solskjaer’s presence is stopping Man United from attracting top talent in January despite signing the likes of Jadon Sancho and Ronaldo in the summer.

“Why would anyone want to sign for Man United at the moment?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“No disrespect, but I couldn’t play under Ole. If he told me something from the sidelines I would start laughing.

“He has no authority and I don’t understand how he’s meant to get his instructions across.

“He very often looks lost. Ole was a great player and that’s fine.

“But he’s lacking as a manager. He has a good enough squad to pick up decent results.

“But when they come up against decent sides they get torn to pieces.

“That is not an attractive option to foreign players. Even if you can boast the name Manchester United.”

The Red Devils are fifth in the Premier League.

They face a crunch clash against Manchester City on Saturday.
