Pundit issues ‘disaster’ Man United claim after Sky’s Casemiro update

The signing of Casemiro will prove to be a “disaster” for Man United.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On Friday (19 August), Man United confirmed they had reached an agreement to sign Casemiro.

Sky Sports report the deal is worth £59.2million with the 30-year-old set to sign a four-year deal at Old Trafford with the option to extend for another 12 months.

Wenham expects the move to be another disaster for the Red Devils though he does concede he will improve the midfield options available to Eric ten Hag.

“There is an image going around of Ronaldo, Varane and Casemiro all being captained by Harry Maguire,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It is a strange set-up they have up at Man United. I can see Casemiro being a disaster at Man United.

“The whole thing is in complete disarray. This is £60million for a 30-year-old midfielder. Yes, he is a very talented midfielder and he is an upgrade on what Man United have.

“I just think it will be another disaster from the club after a terrible start to the season.”

Casemiro leaves Real Madrid after making 336 appearances for the club.

He has won 18 major honours with the club including five Champions League titles.

In other news, a source has revealed that a Euro club has set their sights on signing a Manchester United star after a decision from Erik ten Hag.
