Pundit issues ‘sensational’ Ross Barkley claim after Celtic source’s reveal
Kevin Campbell has suggested Ross Barkley will be “a sensation” if he joins Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said a move to the Scottish champions “could be good” for Barkley.
On Saturday (13 August), sources told this site that Ange Postecoglou’s side have submitted a bid to Chelsea for the 28-year-old.
The Hoops are keen to bring the midfielder to Parkhead on a season long loan as he has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
The former England international has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Blues.
Barkley was left out of the matchday squad for Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday (14 August).
The midfielder spent the 2020-21 season on loan with Aston Villa and has failed to become a permanent fixture in Thomas Tuchel’s side since his return.
When asked if a move to the Scottish top flight could be good for Barkley, Campbell told Football Insider:
“I think he’ll be a sensation up there I really do.
“A strong side like Celtic, the way they play, his dynamism from the midfield, the way he can dribble, shoot, beat players, I think he’d be a revelation at Celtic.
“I think that could be good for him. He could go up there for a year, do the business, and then he’s a free agent. I think he’ll do great up there.“

Barkley made 14 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions last season.
During those outings he scored once.
