Pundit lambasts three Tottenham big names after ‘hard to believe’ development
Tottenham must demand more from their attackers after a slow start to the season from the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-Min Son.
That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ recent results.
Tottenham returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Brighton on Saturday (8 October).
That win came on the back of a 0-0 draw away to Frankfurt on Tuesday (4 October) and last weekend’s North London derby loss (1 October).
Harry Kane scored in the games against Brighton and Arsenal, taking his personal tally for the season to eight in 12 total appearances.
Son, Richarlison and Kulusevski have only scored six goals between them this season and McLeish claims Spurs need more from the trio.
“What you see if you spend a long time looking at Spurs, is that their strikers are doing too much in terms of running back,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“I’m not saying you don’t track back, of course you do. That’s a given and it is something your players need to be aware of.
“Managers like Guardiola insist on it. I think there is a time to do it and a time to focus on your attacking. Spurs have a great front three and they have Richarlison.
“They are forward-thinking players who are good going forward, Kulusevski has been a roaring success for them but he just has one goal this season.

“They must be looking around and thinking how they need to get at teams a bit more considering the attacking threat they have now.
“They need to score more goals, that much is obvious. You see Son not scoring like he used to and it’s hard to believe.”
