Pundit left baffled by Tottenham after source’s Jordan Pickford transfer update

Tottenham should have made a concrete effort to sign Jordan Pickford in January.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the goalkeeping situation at Spurs.

Matt Law reported on Wednesday (8 February) that Lloris is set to miss the next six to eight weeks of action after suffering a knee injury.

Fraser Forster is now set to start for Tottenham in Lloris’ absence

Football Insider revealed on 28 January that Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Pickford ahead of a potential summer move.

McManus can’t understand why Spurs didn’t move for the Everton keeper in January.

“They should have gone for someone like Pickford in January,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“Even before the injury, Loris was making so many mistakes. Pickford was right there at a team fighting relegation, he would jump at that move.

“To go and be Tottenham’s number one instead of battling relegation with Everton, it’s a no-brainer. I don’t know why they didn’t do it.

“It sounds like there is interest so why didn’t the size the moment? You could now be bringing in Pickford instead of Fraser Forster.

“That’s a massive upgrade on your goalkeeping options. It’s the obvious move but we know Tottenham don’t do the obvious things with transfers.”

Everton

Lloris has started all but one of Spurs’ Premier League games this season.

Forster started on Boxing Day as Tottenham drew 2-2 with Brentford.

In other news, an expert has told Tottenham to U-turn on Brentford’s David Raya and sign 22-year-old instead after update.
