Pundit makes ‘big’ Celtic young talent claim after what he’s spotted

Alan Hutton is delighted to see young players getting first team game time at Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said that the fans are desperate to see some of the B team members breaking through into the senior side.

Rocco Vata made his second appearance for Ange Postecoglou’s side in their 2-0 win over Ross County on Sunday (2 April), despite the B team facing off against Rangers in a huge match in the race for the Lowland League title.

The 17-year-old made his first team debut earlier this season during the Hoops’ trip to Hibernian in December.

Vata has made 24 appearances for the B team this season and has scored 11 goals and provided one assist in those outings.

As quoted by footballscotland (31 March), the midfielder revealed that he trains with the first team every day and hopes to be a regular player in Postecoglou’s side.

When asked if it was a positive sign that Vata was included in the first team match when the B team had such an important game at the same time, Huton told Football Insider:Absolutely.

That is the be-all and end-all. Yes it is good playing with the B team and trying to win trophies and leagues but ultimately you are there to try and make the first team.

If you are doing well enough to get there then that is brilliant, that is what you want to see. Especially the fans, they want to see these players come through. That is where you want to be, in the first team.

Yes the B team had a big game against their biggest rivals but you want to be in that first team squad list every single time. So I think that is an excellent thing.
