Pundit makes ‘massive’ Celtic claim after source’s £46m summer reveal

Alan Hutton has insisted Celtic will be on the lookout for summer additions despite their impressive season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said that although the Hoops don’t need “massive improvement”, Ange Postecoglou will still be on the lookout for players to bring in.

The Celts are currently top of the Scottish Premiership and nine points clear of second-placed Rangers heading into the back end of the season.

The Parkhead club have already secured the League Cup and are in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup as they search for another treble.

On 11 March, sources told this site that Postecoglou is set to be given a bolstered summer transfer kitty if he achieves Champions League qualification for next season.

The Australian has spent £46million on over 20 new arrivals since his arrival in Glasgow in 2021 and is keen to unearth more hidden gems across the globe.

When asked if Celtic need to spend big money in the summer, Hutton told Football Insider:Not really.

If they keep the squad as is then no I do not think they need massive improvement.

You can never stay still, you always have to be looking forward to the next player, who can come in, who can push players and make them better?

Obviously the manager and his backroom staff will be looking to do that. But, as it stands at the moment I think they have got a very strong squad and that includes people coming in off the bench.

Of course they will look to bring in new recruits depending on who leaves but they are in a good place at the moment.
