Pundit on potential Jesse Marsch sack amid Leeds United boardroom reveal – ‘dead and buried’
Kevin Campbell has claimed Jesse Marsch is doing a “brilliant job” at Leeds United and must be given more backing in the transfer market.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Whites looked “dead and buried” before the 49-year-old took the hot seat last season.
Leeds United had gone eight games without a win from mid-August until the end of October – but Marsch oversaw wins against Liverpool and Bournemouth to lift his side to 15th in the table.
The Elland Road club signed off for the mid-season World Cup break with a thrilling 4-3 away loss at Tottenham on Saturday (12 November).
Football Insider revealed on Saturday morning that Marsch is still on shaky ground at Leeds United despite the recent turnaround in form.
It is understood that club chiefs are still not convinced by the American and some among the hierarchy fear the club could be dragged into a season-long relegation battle.
Campbell claimed the Yorkshire side should “stick with” Marsch and his “exciting” brand of football.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he’s still got to get the balance right.
“But it’s exciting. The win against Bournemouth, the win at Anfield – and ultimately the game against Tottenham, even though they ended up losing.
“They’re conceding far too many goals, but they’re scoring a load too.
“I think they should stick with him. If they do it will be a real ride for the Leeds United fans, but it will be a good spectacle.

“A lot of people might look at Jesse Marsch and say he hasn’t done a good job. I think he’s done a brilliant job.
“When he came in, they looked dead and buried – and they haven’t spent a fortune. He needs a couple of transfer windows.”
