The remarkable consistency and durability of Rangers star Connor Goldson is “scary”.
That is according to ex-Leeds United and Aberdeen striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs about the 27-year-old defender.
The centre-back played the full 90 minutes of the clash as Steven Gerrard’s team brushed aside the division’s third-best side to move 11 points clear at the league summit.
As revealed by Football Insider club chiefs are keen to extend Goldson’s current contract which is due to expire in June 2022.
Whelan is a big admirer of the centre-back.
“Goldson has been outstanding this season for Rangers,” he told Football Insider. “Steven knows what he’s going to get from him every week, every match.
“He’s commanding, reliable and never lets you down. He’s a player the manager can rely on.
“Rangers have had plenty of players in top form this season, but none has been better than Goldson.
“I think right now every player at that club is doing their job. But, Goldson, honestly? It’s scaring me how reliable and consistent he is.
“Never misses a game, never gets injured or unavailable. He must be a manager’s dream.”
Goldson has played every minute of Rangers’ 21 Scottish Premiership and Europa League matches this season.
