Pundit salutes 'amazing' Dejan Kulusevski development after Tottenham source's reveal

Noel Whelan has claimed Dejan Kulusevski is a “risk-free signing” for Tottenham after his electric start to life at the club.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, backed the 22-year-old to be a key man in the Spurs attack for “the next five years”.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (20 November) that Tottenham have everything in place to sign Kulusevski permanently regardless of whether he activates the clauses in his contract – with sources claiming the deal is “99% done”.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham are obliged to pay £30million to Juventus if he plays 20 Premier League games this season and they finish in the top four.

Kulusevski has already played nine times in the top flight in the 2021-22 campaign, scoring once and registering five assists.

He helped Tottenham to Champions League qualification last season after his loan arrival in the January transfer window.

Whelan hailed the Sweden international for repaying the faith shown by Antonio Conte – who rescued him from a faltering spell at Juventus.

He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “This is Conte’s player.

“He trusts him, and he’s proven he can repay that trust.

“He’s built an amazing relationship in that front three.

“It’s a no-brainer – they know where the money will be going. It’s a risk-free signing.

“He’s got such longevity ahead of him. He can be a key man in that Tottenham attack for the next five years, at least.”

Spurs sit fourth in the Premier League after signing off for the mid-season World Cup break with a 4-3 win over Leeds United.

The Lilywhites return to action against Brentford on Boxing Day.
