Pundit salutes ‘very smart’ Erik ten Hag plan after Man United contract reveal – ‘he won’t stand for it’
Kevin Campbell has insisted it is a “very smart move” for Erik ten Hag to block any new contracts at Man United.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 52-year-old’s plan will prevent players “coasting” at Old Trafford.
According to The Telegraph (3 October), Ten Hag has told Manchester United’s hierarchy not to hand out any new contracts until he can make a judgement on his squad.

Man United have eight senior players who are free agents next summer but with options to extend until 2024.
Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Fred and Diogo Dalot are among the stars currently set to leave Old Trafford for free.
Man United lost 6-3 in the Manchester derby on Sunday (2 October) – meaning the Red Devils have lost three of their opening seven games, winning the other four.
Campbell told Football Insider: “It’s a very smart move.
“Everything has to be earned now. At the end of the day, some of these players can get a new deal and start to coast.
“This guy, Ten Hag – he won’t stand for coasting.
“And the players who were in the squad which lost against City and haven’t got long on their contracts, they’ve got a lot of work to do.”

Man United sit sixth in the Premier League after Sunday’s loss.
Ten Hag’s side face Omonia in the Europa League on Thursday (6 October) before travelling to Everton on Sunday (9 October).
