Pundit ‘seriously excited’ about next Newcastle signing after news today

Newcastle fans should be “seriously excited” about the rest of the January transfer window after being linked with several stars.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ potential transfer business.

Newcastle have been linked with a host of top players in the early days of the transfer window.

On Thursday (6 January) Craig Hope of the Daily Mail reported Newcastle are monitoring Anthony Martial’s situation.

The Athletic also reported on Thursday that Eddie Howe’s side have had a bit turned down for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.

This comes as Kieran Trippier is set to become the first signing of the Saudi-backed regime at St James’ Park and McAvennie can’t help but be excited for Newcastle fans.

“I mean, some of the stuff I have been reading, some of the players I’ve seen linked, it’s amazing,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s seriously exciting stuff and the fans have to be excited. This is all unheard of Newcastle.

“World-class players are being linked with the club and there is a chance they will sign them.

“Trippier coming is massive. I’m seeing bids for players at big European clubs and I think they have a chance.

“With the money Newcastle have, it could happen. I’m delighted for the club.

“If any set of fans deserve this, it’s those Geordies. I hope they can stay up now.”
