Pundit shares 'exciting' verdict after Tottenham source's Djed Spence update

Antonio Conte is getting exactly what he wanted when he agreed to stay on as Tottenham manager.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the North London club’s summer business.

Tottenham have made a rapid start to their summer business, signing Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma.

On 10 June, this site revealed Tottenham are also in advanced talks to sign Djed Spence from Middlesbrough.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Spurs are closing in on a breakthrough after intensifying their Spence pursuit in recent days.

Kenny is excited to see the Spurs side that lines up on the first day of the 2022-23 season.

“Tottenham are so busy,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You can tell this is exactly what Antonio Conte wanted. He wanted to be backed and that is happening.

“It’s an exciting time because you just wonder who is going to come through the door next.

They are getting serious now and every signing they have made has been good in my opinion.

“I can’t wait to see them in action because it is going to be a completely different team to last season by the looks of it.”

Tottenham finished fourth during the 2021-22 season after rising from ninth place following Conte’s arrival.

They finished the season in fine form, winning four of their last five games.
