Pundit shares 'phenomenal' Kieran Trippier verdict as 'big' Newcastle United prediction made
“Phenomenal” Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier is one of the best players in the Premier League.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s form.
Trippier, 32, has started all 14 of Newcastle’s Premier League games this season, scoring once and providing three assists in those games.
The Magpies sit third in the Premier League table and no side has conceded fewer than the 11 goals Newcastle have shipped this season.
McManus insists Trippier’s presence in the side is a big reason for Newcastle’s impressive form.
“Trippier is the big one, for me,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“He’s a leader of men and I bet the players get so much confidence from seeing him on the pitch. The mentality he has, it must have developed at Atletico Madrid. It’s win at all costs.
“He’s phenomenal, not just in terms of his attacking output, but you almost have to remind yourself that he is a defender and a damn good one at that.
“Goals and assists are great but he is a big part of the league’s best defence. I think he only played a few games for them last season before getting injured so it’s only now we are seeing him after a solid run of games.
“He’s also almost like a coach on the pitch and I think that is a big reason why Eddie Howe signed him to be honest.
“He’s been one of the best players in the league this season, make no doubt about it. If he stays fit then Newcastle can do big things this season.”
Trippier provided the assist for Joe Willock’s goal as Newcastle beat Southampton 4-1 on Sunday (6 November).
The Magpies are next in action against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup on Wednesday (9 November).
