Pundit shares verdict on Bruno Guimaraes potentially quitting Newcastle after source’s £60m update
Bruno Guimaraes does not plan on leaving Newcastle United anytime soon as he “loves the club” and believes in the new owners’ project.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Brazilian’s future.
On 24 December, Football Insider revealed Newcastle are making progress on agreeing a £200,000-a-week new contract with Guimaraes that could be worth up to £60million.
The midfielder, 25, has been targeted by Europe’s elite clubs after making a huge impact since his £40million St James’ Park arrival.
As revealed by Football Insider (15 October), Newcastle are willing to offer Guimaraes a huge pay hike that would take him to around £200,000-a-week and extend his deal by two more years.
Guimaraes‘ current £120,000-a-week contract runs until the summer of 2026.
When asked if Newcastle need to worry about Guimaraes wanting to leave, McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild, “No, I don’t think so.
“He loves the club, you can see it whenever he plays. The way he throws himself into tackles and the way he talks about the fans and his teammates, he loves it there.
“I don’t think there is anywhere better for him now. Newcastle are on the up and could be playing in the Champions League next season.

“When he joined he spoke about the project and the ambition to get into the Champions League. I think he properly believes in the club and the plan and I think he will want to see it through.
“I think Bruno will be at Newcastle for a long, long time.”
