Pundit suggests Chelsea dressing room unrest after confirmed news – ‘I’ve seen it…’

Alan Hutton has urged Graham Potter to get players “out the door” at Chelsea.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said players will be “upset” if they are unable to train with the first team given the number of players in the squad.

According to the Daily Mail (27 February), Potter is worried his training session at Cobham are being undermined by having too many players to work with.

The first team currently have a squad of 31 after Todd Boehly’s £323million spend in January and the boss is worried the numbers are affecting work on the training pitch.

After the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday (26 February), the Blues have won just two of their last 15 Premier League games.

When asked how hard it is to have so many players in training, Hutton told Football Insider:It is really difficult.

Normally when you are in the first team you are not really going to train with more than 20 or 21 players, that is including a few goalkeepers. That is probably the max number.

If they are sitting with 30 players, most of them will be internationals, they are having to leave some to play with the under-23s. That is not good.

You can imagine some of the egos in there that will be upset, not wanting to train with the kids. Then there’s wee cliques than can come about, I have seen it happen at clubs.

It is something that is really going to be sorted out. He is going to have to figure out who is squad is moving forward and who he can get out the door.
