Pundit suggests Danny Ings falling-out after Aston Villa source’s update

Aston Villa should not let Danny Ings leave the club this summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the striker’s future.

A Villa source told Football Insider (25 May) that the club will listen to offers for the centre-forward 12 months on from his £25million arrival from Southampton.

Ings, 29, endured an indifferent 2021-22 campaign at Aston Villa.

He joined the Villains from Southampton in the summer of 2021 but has rarely looked like the same player who scored 12 goals in 29 league games during the 2020-21 season;

Kenny claims there may have been a falling out between Ings and Steven Gerrard.

“You wonder if something has happened behind closed doors if he has been transfer listed,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They have already signed a number of players and I’m sure they have the money to go out and get a few more.

“WHo that will be, I don’t know. No matter what happens, they will want to get someone in before they let him go.

“You could do a lot worse than Ings so it is a bit of a surprise, that one.”

Aston Villa

Aston Villa finished 14th in the 2021-22 Premier League despite spending big in the summer of 2021.

Steven Gerrard replaced Dean Smith in November after a poor start to the campaign.
