Pundit thrilled after Leeds agree Moore deal
Noel Whelan has hailed the rapid rise of promising defender Kris Moore through the Leeds United ranks in recent months.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker and club ambassador insisted this season has been “like a dream” for the 18-year-old.
As confirmed on Wednesday (13 January), Moore has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal at Elland Road.
It is his first professional contract.
The versatile defender has already been named among the substitutes for the senior side three times this season.
Whelan insisted the staff at Elland Road would be proud of Moore’s development this term.

Reacting to the news of Moore’s contract, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think as a young player, if you’re anywhere in and around, you know, the first team, let alone on the bench, it’s been a good season for you.
“For him to have that kind of experience to be in and around the first team, to be travelling with the first team, to be on the bench, it’s like a dream, isn’t it?
“I can remember my first time when I travelled. So excited, very nervous and also starry-eyed. I’m sitting there in the dressing room, in my team tracksuit with these stars. I was still cleaning their boots.
“So it’s a fantastic season for any player that’s been in and around the first team this season. On the bench, whether they get on or not, that’s progression.
“For Mark Jackson, there’s a kind of proud Dad feeling about that. You are seeing the players develop through the ranks to progress to where you want them.”
Moore has been a mainstay for the under-23s this season, playing all across the back four.
He was on the bench for Leeds’ league games against Arsenal and Burnley and the FA Cup tie at West Ham.
