Pundit 'wowed' by Emerson and makes 'blistering' Tottenham claim
Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal showed “everything” with his display against Vitesse last night, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted he was “really impressed” with the 22-year-old’s performance.
As per SofaScore, Emerson had the second-most touches of any Tottenham player (81`), won the second-most duels (eight), and made the most tackles of any player (five) during the 3-2 win over Vitesse in the Europa Conference League.
The Brazillian played 90 minutes on a momentous night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as Antonio Conte took charge of the north London side for the first time.
Emerson has already made 11 appearances for Spurs this term but is yet to register a goal or assist.
Whelan insisted the Brazil international was suited to his new marauding role under Conte.

“We saw everything from Emerson last night,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“His defensive capability, the midfield role he can play – but more importantly, I saw him getting forward more than I’ve ever seen him getting forward.
“He showed that blistering pace, that quality and he got plenty of crosses in.
“We saw a different side to Emerson last night, and I was really impressed with him.
“I was watching him and thinking ‘wow, now that’s the right back they brought in’.
“He had that pace, that confidence, and that belief in his own ability – it looked like he was really enjoying that role, and it definitely suited him.”
Emerson signed for Tottenham from Barcelona for a fee of £25.7million.
Spurs face Everton on Sunday in Conte’s first league match in charge.
