Pundit ‘wowed’ by Moura after ‘big’ Tottenham player reveal
Antonio Conte’s trust in Lucas Moura has allowed his “immense talent” to come to the fore at Tottenham, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 29-year-old has been “excellent” since the Italian’s arrival.
Fresh from booking Tottenham’s League Cup semi-final place in midweek, Moura scored and laid on two more strikes as his side beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at home yesterday (26 December).
Speaking post-match, as quoted by the Evening Standard, Moura suggested Spurs can think about “big things” if they continue to perform under former Chelsea boss Conte.
Whelan insisted the Brazillian’s goal against the Eagles “typified what sort of player he is”.
“His performances have been excellent since Conte has come in,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“I’ve really rated him ever since he came to Tottenham, I just felt he didn’t quite have that trust in him from other managers at times.
“There’s no doubt that he’s got immense talent. He’s got some of the best feet in the Premier League, he works hard, great turn of pace – and he scores goals. His performance yesterday just typified what sort of player he is.
“Driving with the ball, playing the ball wide – and wow, what a header. You don’t see that very much, that desire and hunger – not caring whether you get hurt or not.
“That goal summed up what he’s all about.”

Moura has scored four goals in nine games since Conte arrived at Tottenham in November.
The Brazil international has been at the club since 2018.
