Pundit’s one-word verdict on Man City dropping Erling Haaland from XI
Frank McAvennie has claimed Erling Haaland will be telling Pep Guardiola not to rotate him at Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Guardiola has earned the respect to “rest anyone” and players will accept it.
The 22-year-old has started every game for City so far this season.
The Norway international has already scored 12 goals in eight appearances for the Cityzens.
Haaland was in the starting lineup for City’s 4-0 win over Sevilla in the opening game of their Champions League campaign.
He scored two of the four goals before being subbed off in the 70th minute.
The Sky Blues face the Norwegian’s former club Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday (14 September).
When asked if Guardiola will be happy to rotate Haaland given the amount of games coming up, McAvennie told Football Insider: “No,
“I think Pep will rest anyone, he’s earned that respect and the players just accept it. I don’t know if Haaland would accept getting rotated, he’ll be saying to Pep ‘rotate somebody else, I want to play every game’.
“He’s not even got used to his teammates yet. It’s incredible. He’ll be telepathic with [Kevin] De Bruyne and they will just know where he’s going.
“He’s different from everyone else, Man City hasn’t had a focal point up front for a long time. He’s walked in with his head tall and he looks like he’s been there for years.“

On 13 June, City confirmed the signing of Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
The striker put pen to paper on a five-year-deal with the Manchester club.
