QPR, Bournemouth and Blackburn Rovers in last-gasp race to sign Swansea City forward Jamie Paterson

Queens Park Rangers, Bournemouth and Blackburn are in a last-gasp race to sign Swansea City forward Jamie Paterson, Football Insider understands.

Swansea have rejected multiple bids from QPR for the 30-year-old this month and Bournemouth and Blackburn are ready to enter the battle for the former Bristol City man on deadline day.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Paterson is keen on a move away from Swansea before Monday’s transfer deadline after a disagreement over his contract situation.

Paterson has been training with Swansea’s Under-23s in recent weeks as a result of the unrest over his future.

He was the club’s top performer in the first half of the season with eight goals in 21 games.

Football Insider revealed last week (28 January) that Swansea have so far rebuffed two bids from QPR for Paterson this month.

Speaking to WalesOnline (29 January), Swans boss Russell Martin insisted the offers were “very far away” from the club’s valuation of the striker.

The former Nottingham Forest man is under contract until June 2023 after an automatic one-year extension was triggered earlier this month.

Paterson joined the Welsh club on a free transfer last August (2021) from fellow Championship side Bristol City.

The Coventry-born hitman is proven in the second tier.

He has scored 47 goals across 265 Championship games for five different outfits.

Paterson last turned out for Swansea against his former club Forest on 11 December.

QPR, Bournemouth, and Blackburn are all seeking to bolster their respective frontlines as the race for automatic promotion heats up.
