Radrizzani is about to condemn Leeds to failure with imminent Christiansen sacking
Leeds United are set for failure this season if owner Andrea Radrizzani follows through with his plans to sack manager Thomas Christiansen imminently.
As exclusively revealed by Football Insider, the Whites are readying to rid themselves of the Danish boss by Monday after their recent run of poor form, which has seen them go without a win in their last seven games, a streak which extends back to their victory over Burton Albion on Boxing Day.
This season has been something of a rollercoaster for the Elland Road faithful, seeing their side shoot to the top of the table as they went unbeaten in their first seven games, but were brought back down to earth with an abysmal run of eight defeats in 11 games.
Christiansen had appeared to halted that slump, with another six games unbeaten, before their current run of bad form which has occurred alongside a spate of disciplinary issues as well as a number of injury blows.
To some, the imminent sacking might come as no surprise, but Radrizzani is making the biggest mistake of his time at Elland Road, which amounts to just over a year.
Christiansen has been woefully unlucky with his team’s performances, with critical decisions going against them, not to mention the injuries suffered along the way.
He is a good manager; the players support him, he speaks well and while he has shown some naivety in matches, he is learning his trade in the Championship and is still within touching distance of the play-offs, which is ultimately the club’s aim this season.
On the other hand, who are the Whites going to get to replace him?
There might be some big managerial names available out there, but in reality they have left it too late for a new arrival to make the necessary changes, and the disruption could well cause further issues between now and the end of the season.
Ridding themselves of Christiansen is a brash move destined for further failure, and sticking it out will give him the chance to prove himself and the club the opportunity to carefully calculate their next step, instead of making a knee jerk reaction.
In other Leeds United news, the club are set for an exciting summer transfer window.
