Newcastle have been handed £95million after returning to the Premier League as champions at the first time of asking, according to a report.
The Chronicle Live claims the Toon will be given the huge cash bonus, which comes from the Premier League’s broadcast rights.
The figures come from a Deloitte Sports Business Group report, which also states that Newcastle would receive parachute payments of £75million for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons, should they be relegated next year.
However Brighton will receive even more than Newcastle, because they did not receive a parachute payment this season, according to the Shields Gazette.
Of the four sides to finish in the play-off spots, only Fulham received a parachute payment from the Premier League, meaning Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town and Reading would get the same as Brighton if promoted.
The potential increase of revenue for clubs who are promoted into the Premier League is huge, and it adds extra meaning to the Championship play-offs final, which is known as the most lucrative match in football.
Newcastle fans will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of Rafa Benitez getting his hands on the cash as he looks to rebuild the squad ahead of the Premier League campaign.
In other Newcastle news, Rob Elliott has issues this rallying call to his club.
