Rak-Sakyi agrees Sheffield United deal after Leeds talks – sources

Crystal Palace star Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has agreed to join Sheffield United on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (7 August) that the Blades were leading the race to land the 20-year-old.

He has now reached a full agreement with the Yorkshire side, who have beaten off competition to sign him on a temporary basis.

It is believed Queens Park Rangers, Leeds United, Hull City, and Watford all held talks over a potential deal for Rak-Sakyi, with the Yorkshire giants offering him a deal.

The winger is stepping down to the Championship for his first taste of regular first-team football at second-tier level.

Rak-Sakyi impressed for Palace in pre-season but was left out of the squad which travelled to the United States as the race for his signature heated up.

Sheffield United beat Leeds to Rak-Sakyi loan

Football Insider revealed earlier this summer that Palace rejected a bid worth £7million from Premier League rivals Southampton for the youngster.

The Croydon club believe Rak-Sakyi has a future at Selhurst Park and rate his talents highly.

A loan spell with Charlton in the 2022-23 season saw him score 15 goals and provide nine assists across 49 games during his first full season in senior football.

Rak-Sakyi returned to Palace for the 2023-24 campaign but following a turbulent season in which he endured long spells with injury issues, Oliver Glasner is keen to allow him to continue his development in the second tier.

Sheffield United have agreed loan deals for Harry Souttar and Alfie Gilchrist this week ahead of their first Championship fixture against Preston on Friday (9 August).
