Rangers ace remains biggest enigma in Scottish football after Old Firm display
COMMENT
It is hard to know what to make of the season that Rangers ace Alfredo Morelos has had in his first year with the Ibrox club.
Firstly, he has scored 17 goals so far this season, which is an excellent return for the 21-year-old Colombian in his first season in Scotland.
His recent new contract will mean that the Gers will undeniably get good money for the player when he eventually leaves the club – to China or elsewhere.
However, on the down side he has been guilty of missing some easy chances in Rangers’ biggest games of the season – the ones against Celtic.
The effort from three yards out which hit the post in the recent 3-2 loss to Celtic at Ibrox was truly awful, whilst he had earlier missed a one-one-one when clean through.
He was also guilty of missing two good chances in the goalless derby at Celtic Park in December, which would have given the Gers a rare victory at the home of their biggest rivals.
Graeme Murty has a conundrum now, as the player has been scoring goals, but he can’t remain first choice missing the kind of chances he has.
It wouldn’t be that much of a shock if Jason Cummings played the striker role for the Gers against Kilmarnock on Saturday, with Morelos kicking his heels on the bench.
