Rangers axe duo: Insider names expected starting XI v Aberdeen

Rangers are expected to make two changes to the side that beat Kilmarnock when they take on Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Tuesday night, according to an insider.

Est Consultancy, which has a stellar track record with team news and rumours at Ibrox, claims on their Twitter account that the duo Sean Goss and Ross McCrorie are set to come into the starting line-up, with the duo of Jason Holt and Jason Cummings being axed.

The Gers go into the game one point behind the Pittodrie side in the battle to finish runners-up in the Scottish Premiership table, knowing that if they lose the game they will be guaranteed to finish out of the top two places in the league table for the second season in a row.

Football Insider verdict

The Gers are certainly going for steel in the middle of the park, with the news that both Goss and McCrorie are set to return to the starting line-up for what looks to be a must-win match. Of course, a draw for the Gers wouldn’t rule them out of the battle to finish second in the league table, as Aberdeen must travel to face Celtic at Celtic Park on Sunday, so perhaps caretaker manager Jimmy Nicholl is correct to err on the side of caution for the trip to Pittodrie. Fans will be delighted to see the return of McCrorie to the starting line-up, as he was excellent for the Gers in his second-half performance against Kilmarnock, and Goss has a chance to show that he deserves to be back in the Gers starting line-up after losing his place after a poor performance against Celtic. It is time for the Gers to stand up and be counted if they want to finish runners-up in the league table.
