Two January signings axed: Rangers best possible XI v Motherwell

COMMENT

Rangers manager Graeme Murty must make two changes to his side if he wants to field his strongest XI when the Gers face Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday.

Graham Dorrans and Alfredo Morelos must come back into the starting XI and replace January signings Sean Goss and Jason Cummings, who should be axed after a drop in form.

Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham must continue in goal behind a back four of James Tavernier, Bruno Alves, Russell Martin and Declan John.

After withdrawing from the Scotland squad to face Costa Rica and Hungary through injury, Martin is expected to be for the trip to Fir Park to face the Steelmen.

Ahead of them Greg Docherty and the returning Dorrans should be partnered in central midfield as the Gers look to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

Murty should go back to his first choice front four with Josh Windass, Jamie Murphy, Daniel Candeias and Morelos in attacking roles for the Light Blues.

Fresh from winning his first cap for Scotland, Murphy will no doubt be hoping to impress as he returns to Fir Park as a player for the first time since leaving Motherwell to join Sheffield United.

With an Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final rapidly approaching, the Gers need to make sure they pick up three points and start building some momentum ahead of their clash with Brendan Rodgers’ side at Hampden.
