Rangers boss Michael Beale ‘obsessed’ by Celtic after what expert has heard

Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers boss Michael Beale is “obsessed” with Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker insisted there is “definitely a title challenge” between the Glasgow rivals.

The Light Blues beat Ross County 2-1 on Saturday (4 January).

Despite going 1-0 in front just before half time, the Gers went on to concede in the 65th minute and were seemingly on course to drop points for the only the second time since Michael Beale took over.

But, as shown on Sky Sports (4 February), a free-kick from Borna Barisic just ten minutes later was enough to secure all three points and keep them nine behind Celtic.

Last month (21 January), speaking to the BBC, Michael Beale defended his claim that Ange Postecoglou is a “lucky man” given the amount of money he has to spend on transfers.

Beale claimed that the Celtic boss has spent more money in the last 12 months that Steven Gerrard was able to spend in three and a half years.

McAvennie told Beale to focus on his own team.

There is definitely a title challenge now because they are winning when they are not playing well,” he told Football Insider.

Celtic have been doing that for years. It is as if Beale is obsessed with what Celtic is doing. He should be focusing on his own team and who they are playing.

Just go and play. He has spent a fair bit of money and I think he has got good players there.

In other news, according to Kieran Maguire, Douglas Park has ‘applied the thumb screws’ as ‘critical’ Rangers deal agreed.
