Paddy Kenny ‘amazed’ by Gerrard and makes bold Rangers prediction

Steven Gerrard is a “class act” and the Rangers boss will go “all the way to the top” in the managerial business.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Rangers reached 96 points following victory over Celtic in their last match.

In a subsequent interview with Rangers’ official website, Gerrard said: “What I will say, is 96 points is a special number for me.”

The Liverpool legend’s comments were a nod to the 1989 Hillsborough tragedy, in which 96 fans perished.

Kenny was seriously impressed by the 40-year-old’s tribute.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “He’s a class act. He was as a player too.

“He had his problems with a few sendings off as a player, but what a career he had. As a manager, he’s shown he’s got what it takes to go all the way to the top.

“I know Celtic have been poor but you’ve still got to go out and win. To get 96 points at this point is an amazing return.

“For him to touch on Hillsborough like that was a touch of class. You’d definitely be proud to have him as your manager.

“You’d love to go be on the training pitch with him, day in, day out.”

Gerrard took over as Rangers boss in 2018 following a stint managing Liverpool’s under-18 and under-19 sides.

The 114-time England man has since led the Glasgow giants to a first Scottish Premiership title in nine years.
