Rangers chairman Dave King is reportedly due to hold a press conference on Monday and the Gers chairman could make a massive statement of intent and give some insight into the Gers short-term plans.
Not much is known for the reason behind the press call with fans filling the vacuum with their own speculation and rumours of everything from Middle Eastern investment to a return for former owner Sir David Murray on social media and beyond.
After confirming Steven Gerrard as the Gers’ new manager on Friday and a press conference due on Monday, as reported by the Scottish Sun, King has a fantastic opportunity to land another massive blow to bitter rivals Celtic as they celebrate a seventh successive Scottish Premiership title.
King has come in for criticism for fans over the lack of spending and his skirting around rules surrounding takeovers following the stormy transfer of power at Ibrox in early 2015.
The likelihood is that King will make an announcement relating to the long-mooted share issue in the club and provide a fresh wave of funding as Gerrard prepares to embark on his first managerial role with the Ibrox giants.
With a massive overhaul of players expected this summer, any investment would go a longway to fulfilling Gerrard’s ambitions as manager and helping the Gers topple bitter rivals Celtic from the top of Scottish football.
