Rangers’ season is over, but they have wasted no time in making plans for the 2018/19 campaign by signing Canada international Scott Arfield from Burnley.
And it seems that there is a signing blitz on its way for the Light Blues, who are reported to have tabled two bids within the past 48 hours for two of their transfer targets.
The Sun reported on Sunday that the Glasgow club has launched a bid worth £4million for Swansea and Scotland forward Oli McBurnie, with Steven Gerrard making him one of his main priorities for the summer window.
However it seems that Dave King could have a bit more money to play around with than first though as the Gers have been claimed to have tabled yet another seven-figure bid, this time for Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel.
Turkish news outlet Sabah has reported that Skrtel, 33, has recently met with Fenerbahce chiefs about his future at the Istanbul giants, and it seems that he has been told that he can leave the club if he wishes.
Rangers are said to have tabled a £4million bid for the Slovakia international, who is one of Gerrard’s former team-mates from his time at Liverpool.
It seems a ridiculous sum for someone who is perhaps in the twilight of their career and it would surely be instantly accepted by Fenerbahce as Skrtel is in the last year of his contract.
It makes more sense for Rangers to invest in their defence, but on Skrtel? No way. It’s a lot of money to spend on McBurnie but at least he has a future ahead of him.
