‘Rangers could sign Emmanuel Dennis on loan-to-buy & pay just 30% of his wages’
Rangers have been backed to land Nottingham Forest star Emmanuel Dennis on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that Rangers could pay just 30% of his wages with Forest covering the majority in an effort to move him out the door.
The 27-year-old currently earns around £4million per year (£77,000 per week) at the City Ground, which has put a number of clubs off of making a move.
Any obligation to buy involved in the deal is also set to be a stumbling block for the Glasgow side given their difficult financial position.
Forest, however, are “desperate” to get Dennis off the books for good and are unlikely to sanction a straight loan for his departure.
Sheffield Wednesday had also enquired about the striker’s availability, but backed out of talks after leaning his steep price tag
Nottingham Forest ‘desperate’ to sell Emmanuel Dennis amid Rangers interest
Since his move to Forest from Watford in 2022, Dennis has featured just 25 times for the club and has spent loan spells in Turkey and back at Vicarage Road in the last two seasons.
Now, Robinson has explained that a move to Rangers would help rejuvenate his career, but the finances involved in the deal will make it a difficult one to pull off.
“The stumbling block is going to be his wages,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s reportedly earning around £4million per year at Nottingham Forest, which is going to be a huge problem for Rangers.
“Rangers would only pay a percentage of that, but Forest seemingly are desperate to get rid of him.
“He’s not been in favour since arriving at the City Ground and he’s clearly not in the manager’s plans.
“Ideally, they want to sell, so any loan would have to be an obligation to buy and I don’t think Rangers can afford that at the moment.
“His wages are going to take a big chunk out of anyone’s budget. Wherever he goes, he’s going to have to take a cut going forward.
“I think while he’s still getting the same salary, Rangers are out of the game unless Forest are going to pay 70% or 80% of his wages and Rangers cover a smaller chunk.

“But the other stumbling block is the obligation to buy. We know Sheffield Wednesday are looking at him, but they enquired, looked at the deal, and gone.
“I think he’d be a good fit for Rangers,, and he does need to move on and rejuvenate his career, but there will be a lot of sides who baulk at his price tag.”
