Defender reveals what Rangers need to beat Celtic in Hogmanay Old Firm clash
By Emma Sanders
Rangers defender Clint Hill has issued a warning to Celtic ahead of the Old Firm derby on New Year’s Eve, saying all they need is confidence to claim the three points.
Hill is confident his side can inflict Celtic’s first defeat of the season in the blockbuster Scottish Premiership clash which will take place at the Ibrox.
Hill claims his side will need a bit of luck but says confidence is key.
“Everything is about confidence. If we can go into that Celtic game with another win on Wednesday then we can be confident we can give them a real game,” said Hill, as reported by the Daily Record.
“We obviously need a bit of luck on the day. But hopefully we can do it. We want to do it, as everybody else does.

“They are unbeaten as well so that would be a lovely scalp if we could do that. But it is going to be a big game.”
Rangers take on St Johnstone on Wednesday prior to the clash against Celtic and they still trail their rivals by 14 points in the league table.
Celtic remain unbeaten in domestic competitions throughout the 2016-17 season and have already recorded two victories against Rangers this season.
The Hoops smashed Rangers 5-1 in September and knocked out Mark Warburton’s side in the semi-finals of the Betfred League Cup, before going on to win the competition last month.
Rangers have won four successive league games and have been in great form throughout December but Brendan Rodgers’ side have been equally as impressive.
The Gers could be without star defender and captain Lee Wallace after he picked up an injury during the 1-0 victory against Inverness on Christmas Eve.
He has been ruled out of the clash against St Johnstone but will face a late fitness test ahead of the important Old Firm derby showdown.
In other Rangers news, Johnstone claims these are the areas with a need to improve in January.
