Rangers fans have been drooling over Swansea defender Kyle Bartley and are demanding that the club goes out and re-signs him in the summer transfer window,

Bartley, 26, has spent most of this season sidelined with a knee ligament injury and since returning to fitness he has barely been able to break into Carlos Carvahal’s first-team plans as his side aim to stay clear of being relegated from the Premier League.

The 6ft 3in defender began his professional career at Arsenal and had two loan spells at Ibrox just before their financial meltdown in 2012.

He made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Gers and scored one goal while he became known as a hard-hitting, no-nonsense centre-back who was always up for the big games.

Now with director of football Mark Allen setting about welcome more domestic talent to Ibrox, fans are expecting him to go out and re-sign Bartley in the summer.

One fan claimed that the ex-Arsenal man is like “a rock” in defence.

Bartley signed a new deal at Swansea at the end of last season which means he still has another three years left on his agreement at the Liberty.

However he has made just 12 appearances in all competitions this term, meaning he could be available.
