Rangers fans rage at ‘extremely daft’ announcement that is ‘utter nonsense’: ‘We’re going to regret this’

Rangers are still fighting to strengthen their squad in the final stages of the January transfer window.

The Ibrox outfit are gearing up for a three-horse title race in the Scottish Premiership, with their tussle against Hearts and Celtic potentially set to go down to the wire in the second half of the season.

Rangers have already added three new faces to their squad during the winter window, and there is also strong interest coming in for the likes of Youssef Chermiti and Djeidi Gassama ahead of Monday’s deadline.

Danny Rohl is keen to add the finishing touches to his squad in the final days of the window, but his desire to strengthen further has also resulted in movement in the other direction.

Rangers fans fume at Findlay Curtis announcement

Football Insider revealed earlier in January that Rangers would not consider selling Findlay Curtis this month, as he continues to emerge as a genuine first-team option for the Glasgow giants.

The young winger burst onto the scene with a screamer against Panathinaikos back in July, but has since been limited to just one start in the league all season.

It has been clear that Rohl sees the 19-year-old as a huge talent for the future, as he started the starlet against Porto in the Gers’ final Europa League outing on Thursday night.

Curtis repaid his manager’s faith in him by notching an assist on Gassama’s goal, but that will be his final appearance for Rangers for a while, after a loan move to Kilmarnock was confirmed on Friday evening.

Rangers fans have taken to X to share their frustration at the announcement, which sees them lose their young prodigy until the end of the season.

One supporter labelled the deal as “utter nonsense” from a Gers perspective, while another suggested that they were “going to regret this.”

Another fan acknowledged that while it is a “good move” for the youngster himself, it is a “terrible” move for Rangers, while several shared the view that Curtis should be starting regularly for his parent club.

How Curtis can still affect Rangers’ title pursuit

Curtis can count himself unlucky at Rangers given the way their season has progressed this term.

The youngster wasn’t trusted enough by Russell Martin, and the recent improvements under Rohl have seen others come to the fore and put themselves forward as strong options.

However, the starlet can still have a major impact for his parent club in their bid to claim their 56th Premiership title at the end of the campaign.

Kilmarnock are struggling in the lower reaches of the table at the moment, but still have to face both Celtic and Hearts before the league splits in half.

If Curtis could have a telling impact in those games, then it could see Rangers’ title rivals drop crucial points against struggling opposition, which would hand a huge boost to the title hopes at Ibrox.

Curtis may no longer be pulling on a royal blue shirt until the end of the season, but he could yet have a huge say in deciding the fate of their campaign.
