'Gutted' - Rangers fans react after reportedly missing out on last-min PL forward deal
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that they had been beaten in the race to sign Swansea forward Oli McBurnie in a last-minute deadline day deal.
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has claimed on his personal Twitter account that English Championship outfit Sunderland had “pipped” the Gers to McBurnie’s signature, but in fact the 21-year-old had ended up signing on loan with Barnsley for the rest of the season.
Daily Record journalist Scott McDermott had reported earlier on deadline day that the Glaswegians had been in contact with Swansea, as they looked to sign up the Premier League forward as a potential replacement for Alfredo Morelos.
The Colombian striker had been widely reported to have been the subject of bids from China in the last few days of the January transfer window, but as the clock struck 11pm on Wednesday night, he remained a Rangers player.
Now, fans of the Gers have been reacting on Twitter after McBurnie moved to Barnsley instead of Ibrox.
McBurnie is a Rangers fan and it surprised some that he did not make the move to become a part of Graeme Murty’s revolution.
One supporter told the centre-forward to “get it together” while another was “gutted”.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
You should of been here aswell McBurnie. You were the icing on the cake
