Rangers

Steven Gerrard has been installed as odds-on favourite to become the new Rangers manager – and fans have taken to Twitter to deliver mixed verdicts.

The Liverpool icon’s odds were slashed on Wednesday to a super-short 1/2 as he was made the huge favourite to take the post that is likely to be vacant at the end of the season.

The former favourite Graham Potter has dropped massively to 8/1, meaning as far as the bookies are concerned, there’s only one man for the job.

The drop in odds comes after Rangers manager Dave King was spotted at Anfield on Tuesday night celebrating a Liverpool goal in their 5-2 demolition of Roma in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Gerrard, who currently works for Liverpool as their Under-18s manager after retiring from playing 18 months ago, was also at Anfield in his role as a pundit for BT Sport.

A section of Rangers fans delivered mixed verdicts on the club appointed an unproven manager, with one claiming it gave her the “heavy fear”and another stating “it could be a masterstroke”.
