'Never loved anyone as much' - Rangers fans rave about 24-year-old in win v Celtic

Rangers star Josh Windass scored his first Old Firm goal in Sunday’s clash between the Glasgow giants – and Gers fans were ecstatic with the attacker’s strike.

The 24-year-old stole the ball from Celtic’s Dedryck Boyata before surging forward and rifling the ball beyond Scott Bain to give the Light Blues an early lead.

Windass had previously failed to score in any of his previous appearances against the Hoops over the last two seasons but opened the scoring after just 2 minutes against Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Gers fans were absolutely delighted with Windass – with one saying they “could kiss” the former Accrington star.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Windass’ strike was his 17th of the season for the Light Blues with all but one of them coming since Graeme Murty was appointed manager in October.

The Gers star recently signed a new contract to keep him at Ibrox until the summer of 2021 after interest from a number of English Championship sides in the January transfer window.

Windass’ performances for the Gers this season will almost certainly see him in the running for the player of the year awards at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old joined the Gers in 2016 from Accrington alongside Matt Crooks and, after a disappointing debut season, has really impressed in his second campaign in Scotland.

In other Rangers news, the club are firmly in the running to sign a goal machine from north-west English high flyers.
