Rangers fans react on Twitter to report linking Windass with January exit

By Harvey Byrne

Midfielder Josh Windass is being targeted by Newcastle and Derby – and Rangers fans on Twitter are refusing to believe they will let a key player leave.

The Scottish Sun claimed on Monday evening that the Championship duo were keen on signing the 22-year-old in January.

The youngster had only moved to Rangers in the summer after signing a pre-contract with the Scottish giants from Accrington in January.

However, the report claims that manager Mark Warburton is targeting additions himself and the midfield area could be one he is looking to add to following the injury to Niko Kranjcar and Joey Barton’s departure.

With no figure in the report, some Rangers fans have decided on the fee on social media, while others commented on Newcastle owner Mike Ashley’s retail situation with the club.

Windass has played in 12 fixtures this season, scoring 1 goal and providing three himself.

He has missed the club’s previous two matches through injury against Hearts and Aberdeen, but he could return for Saturday’s second clash with Hearts.

It is set to be a tough match with just two points separating Rangers in second and Hearts in third.

However, the Gers will be keen to avenge the previous 2-0 defeat on home soil.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton named this Gers ace in his team of the week.
