Former Rangers head of recruitment Frank McParland has reportedly been appointed by Nottingham Forest as their new director of football – and Rangers fans on Twitter are laughing at their expense.

The Mirror claim McParland will take up the new role at the City Ground until the end of the season, with Forest looking for answers with the club just four points clear of the relegation zone.

The ex-Rangers chief was dismissed from his post at Ibrox last month, alongside manager Mark Warburton and coach David Weir, but has landed on his feet with the Championship outfit.

After the appointment was confirmed in the Mirror on Friday afternoon, Rangers fans took to Twitter to mock Nottingham Forest over their new addition.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

A number of McParland’s signings during his time at Ibrox have been met with immense criticism, including Joey Barton and Matt Gilks, who have both since quit the club.

The arrival of McParland at Nottingham Forest has enhanced the probability of Warburton becoming the club’s next full-time manager.

The pair worked together at Championship rivals Brentford before their Rangers stint, and Warburton has been strongly linked with the position.

It is understood that an approach from Forest was cited as one of the reasons for Warburton’s dismissal at Ibrox.
