'Appalling waste of money' - Rangers fans slam summer signing after defeat v Celtic
By Abigail Withey
Rangers fans have publicly criticised midfielder Carlos Pena after his less than impressive performance during the first Old Firm showdown of the season.
Pedro Caixinha’s side hosted Celtic at Ibrox on Saturday, but their efforts were not enough to prevent defeat as the game ended 2-0 to the Hoops.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder gave a lacklustre performance during the hugely important match which led to him being replaced by forward Kenny Miller in the 53rd minute of the game.
Fans were quick to react to Pena’s turgid display against the Hoops with many supporters feeling that he was lazy throughout the game and wasn’t worth the fee which the club paid over the summer transfer window.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

About time to be honest. Pena was lazy today.

Just today? So far he looks an appalling waste of money by Pedro. At his price he has to be making a difference in games like today.

Pena joined the Light Blues on a three-year-deal from Guadalajara Chivas during the summer transfer window which means he is tied down to the club until 2020.
The Mexican playmaker has featured in six of Rangers’ games across all competitions so far this season and has scored two goals for the Glaswegian side, one against Dundee in the Premiership and the other against Partick Thistle during the club’s recent Scottish League Cup quarter final win.
Caixinha’s side with next head to the SuperSeal stadium to face Hamilton in their next match of the Premiership season.
