Rangers fans react on Twitter to brutal Levein dig

By James Black

Hearts manager Craig Levein has taken aim at Rangers’ pursuit of Jamie Walker – and fans of the Glasgow giants branded him a “joke” and “idiotic”.

Levein claimed at his media conference on Thursday that Rangers had broken promises they had made to the 24-year-old.

The Ibrox faithful quickly took to Twitter to fire back at the former Scotland manager and made it perfectly clear what they think of the newly-appointed Hearts boss.

Levein has a history of moaning about Rangers and fans on Twitter have been quick to point that, amongst other things, out.

The clubs spent most of the summer in talks over a move for Walker but the Gers refused to meet Hearts’ valuation of £1million for the winger; who is out of contract at the end of the season and has told Hearts he won’t be renewing his Tynecastle deal.

The clubs even re-started talks on deadline day over a proposed player-plus-cash deal that would have seen Jason Holt returning to Tynecastle after leaving to join Mark Warburton at Ibroxin 2015.

Rangers fans are none too impressed with Levein’s criticism.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Pedro Caixinha’s side are now expected to sign Walker on a free transfer when his contract ends after failing to agree a deal before the transfer window closed.

Rangers are lacking down the left wing after selling Barrie McKay to Nottingham Forest over the summer when McKay refused to sign a new contract and had identified Walker as their number one target.

With 15 goals in 43 appearances last season for Hearts, it’s east to see why Caixinha wanted to bring him to Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, Kenny Miller has been blown away by one of the club’s signings.
