Rangers fans want player’s contract to be ripped up after Genk defeat, he’s ‘nowhere near ready’

Rangers fans are incredibly concerned by one of their summer signings who has failed to live up to the hype.

The Bears brought in 14 new players this summer, following Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises’ takeover at Ibrox.

However, despite a real sense of optimism surrounding Rangers at the start of the season, that has quickly dissipated.

Russell Martin’s side are winless in the Premiership, and following a 1-0 loss to Genk in the Europa League, fans were quick to call for one of their loanees to be sent back to his parent club.

Rangers fans call for Mikey Moore’s loan to be terminated

Mikey Moore struggled for Rangers during their loss to the Belgian side and was replaced at half-time by Oliver Antman.

The youngster is a natural at left-wing, where he often finds joy by cutting inside and looking for a shooting opportunity.

However, Djeidi Gassama has made the left-wing role his own at Rangers, forcing Martin to use Moore as a right-winger, where the Englishman has been unable to produce any meaningful impact.

Fans of the Bears voiced their concerns on social media, with many calling for the winger to be sent back to Tottenham.

One Rangers fan added: “Mikey Moore needs to be sent back to Spurs, [Findlay] Curtis is miles better than him.”

Another chimed in by saying: “Mikey Moore hauled off for Rangers after the first half I see. What a disastrous loan for all parties.”

One supporter said: “Even at 18 years old, questions need to be asked about Mikey Moore. I’m sure the lad has lots of attributes but he looks like a boy playing adult football. Looks absolutely lost. This is not the environment for his progression.”

Moore must adapt to a new role at Rangers

Whilst the right-wing role is not the most comfortable for Moore, the 18-year-old is being provided plenty of opportunities to add depth to his game.

The Spurs loanee is renowned for his direct attacking approach, but cutting inside onto his left foot and getting shots off has not yielded much success.

Instead, Moore can use this time to work on other aspects of his game. In the SPFL this season, the winger has created only one chance.

If he is to have any hopes of developing into a starter at Tottenham, he will need to have both goal-scoring and providing in his locker, or else Thomas Frank will look to continue to use players like Xavi Simons from the left instead.

But in the here and now, Youssef Chermiti is struggling at Rangers, and the Bears are hardly blessed with options up front.

Having a winger who can provide more opportunities for the club’s strikers is a necessity, and something that Moore must work on.
