Kenny: Change 'definitely needed' at Rangers after Wilson reveal
Rangers are right not to let things stagnate in their backroom staff and change is “definitely needed” if they are to continue their success.
That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson announced a number of “staffing enhancements” on 2nd July.
Jermain Defoe was officially confirmed as a player-coach a month after signing a new one-year deal with the club.
There have also been a number of other appointments and promotions to the first-team coaching and physio staff.
Kenny hailed Rangers for shaking things up behind the scenes and suggested that it bodes well for their title defence in 2021-22.
“You’ve got to make changes,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams

“You can never sit back on your laurels. They’ve just got that title back after a decade and now they’ll be wanting to keep it again next year.
“The last thing they want to do is take their foot off the gas and give Celtic a chance of getting back in there.
“They romped the league last year and I’m sure they’ll have aspirations of doing the same this year. But change is definitely needed even when you’re having success.”
Rangers stormed to a first Scottish Premiership in a decade last term as they went undefeated and finished 25 points clear of Celtic.
They begin their title defence at home to Livingston, who finished 6th in 2020-21, on 31st July.
